Looking for a vegetarian Restaurant in Tsim Sha Tsui Hong Kong?
Sangeetha Vegetarian Restaurant Review
There are days especially on a Sundays that I wish I was in Bangalore! Crisp dosas, soft idlis, spicy sambar, a little podi and some fresh coconut chutney…just 5 mins away from my house. Bangalore ensured that I became a dosa addict by the time I left.
How I wish I could walk up to a dosa corner to satisfy my cravings, here in Hong Kong! If you live in Hong Kong or are a tourist and want to eat some scrumptious vegetarian meal especially dosa! Sangeetha is your best bet!
Sangeetha, a vegetarian restaurant which specialises in south Indian food comes to our rescue every time the Dosa desire strikes!
It is in Tsim Sha Tsui above the Wing On plaza (next to Shangri-La hotel). The is a simple restaurant without any décor elements. But you don’t need fancy décor when you are greeted warmly by the manager and can enjoy delightful service.
Please ensure that you come around 12:30 pm for lunch as by 1 it is buzzing with people and this a weekday I am talking about. Over the weekends this place is packed up. So, it’s a good idea to arrive a little earlier than usual lunch or dinner time.
Let’s talk food now! You will see they serve a variety of food here. Apart from South Indian food, you will get North Indian, little Indian style noodles, chat and sizzlers too. They also serve several types of thali which I am yet to indulge in, so no comments about that. If you are in the mood for some north Indian style roti sabji, they offer that as well and it’s really good.
In the South Indian cuisine, you will get your regular dosa options and wait for it…. kotthu paratha, appams, kaima idly even paniyarams! You can’t see the grin on my face right now, almost salivating.
Every time we end up here, the husband never fails to order his favourite paper dosa! It is humongous and very crispy. It takes a while to arrive at your table, but it is well worth the wait. Just have a look at the picture.
As a dosa lover I usually order and recommend the ghee podi dosa, rava dosa, even these will take a little extra time. In case if you are looking for something quick the plain dosa, Idli and Wada are a good start.
If you like rasam you should try their Wada in rasam combo, it’s delicious. If you find yourself here for dinner don’t forget to order paniyarams. I love these and they are on the menu during evening/ dinner only.
After a nice scrumptious meal all I need a good old strong filter coffee! What more do you need…
